Since 2001, U CAN LEARN Centers, a 501©(3), has provided over a thousand children in Utah and from nearby states with effective, low cost treatments for dyslexic, attention deficit disorders, academic problems, speech and language problems, visual perceptual delays and central auditory processing problems. Starting in a small office in Research Park near the University of Utah, we have grown to learning center and school in Midvale.
U CAN LEARN Centers was founded after four years of research at the University of Utah. There, a team of radiologists and neuroscientists used advanced brain imaging tools to study among other things the causes of learning disabilities. The results of those studies led us to formulate our current treatment program that defines and corrects the major blockages to learning.
We evaluate and treat children and adults of all ages. Linked to a widespread network of referral agencies through the Salt Lake City area and Utah, we work together to provide at-risk children with needed services. Parents continue to be our most effective marketing tool and our exit surveys demonstrate that we continue to have a very positive effect on their children, both academically as well as emotionally. With the correct evaluation and intervention, a child learns about the way his brain takes in information and we improve the processing areas that might not be working effectively. Smart children are relieved to learn that they are able to learn and that their past struggles result from working too hard.
Karla has written for The Utah Family Magazine since 2005, which is a local periodical that targets 40,000 parents in the Salt Lake Valley. This monthly magazine runs her feature article in The Learning Curve section plus an ‘Ask Karla’ section generates a great deal of interest and questions from parents.
Karla is willing to talk to schools, organizations that impact children and to parent groups for free.
